Perspectives
In June 2004 MDL received a major donation of "The John and Birthe
Meyer Foundation" of 19.8 million Danish Kroner (about 2,6 mill.
Euro) to strengthen and enhance its research in bladder, colon and prostate
cancer. In June 2009, MDL received another grand donation of 19.5 million kroner from the "The John and Birthe
Meyer Foundation" to ensure continuation of the numerous cancer research projects at MDL.
The Center for Molecular
Clinical Cancer Research - CMCC was founded at Aarhus University
Hospital at Skejby on March, 3rd 2005. MDL will cooperate national and
international with clinical, surgical and pathological departments from
different hospitals as well as research laboratories at Aarhus University
to gather and investigate numerous tumor samples.
From
2005 to 2010, MDL participated in the "Nordic Centre of Excellence
Programme in Molecular Medicine", funded by the Joint Committee of
the Nordic Medical Research Councils, the Nordic Council of Ministers
and the Nordic Academy for Advanced Study.

MDL was part of the Nordic
Network of Excellence in Disease Genetics (NoNEDG) and one of the
six participating research teams from Denmark, Finland and Sweden, that was coordinated
by Academy professor Leena Peltonen, Biomedicum at University of Helsinki, who unfortunately passed away in March 2010.
MDL participates in ”The MicroRNA Research Consortium – Towards
novel molecular targets for LNA-based
cancer therapy” from January 2006. Read
